Dear Senator _________,
It’s time for (your state name) to join the long and growing list of states that prohibit gassing as a method for euthanizing pet animals.
I encourage you to support and move forward a bill similar to the Pennsylvania Senate Bill 1329, legislation that would prohibit gassing and also require that cats and dogs be euthanized by injection of sodium pentobarbital or one of its derivatives – the method widely considered the most humane.
This issue is extremely personal to me and many other voters who care deeply for our pets. Humane euthanasia is affordable and available, and we no longer need to permit veterinarians and shelters to continue the often inhumane and dated act of gassing. It’s an appalling fact that it remains a perfectly legal method of euthanasia to attach a hose from the tailpipe of a vehicle to a sealed container to suffocate a dog or cat.
I urge you to support a bill similar to Senate Bill 1329.

It's true Mugzzi yrs ago I took a dog to the pound after they told me they'd put it up for adoption and find a home for her. I went home and had second thoughts about it and went back less that two hrs to go and get her back feeling bad about what I had done and they had put the dog down already. When I asked to see the dog they took me out back and showed me a semi truck. When they opened the back of the truck it was full of dead dogs just thrown in there. Must have been hundreds of them decaying. You know what they do with those dead animals? They take them to a process factory and make dog food out of them and then your animals are eating dead decaying rotting dogs, cats, road kill you name it. And we wonder why our animals are also getting sick and unhealthy off the processed foods. What an education that was...totally we need to stop these kinds of practices...
Okay folks this company has great products for what to feed your dogs. I started doing these recipes and using their products when my last dog died from eating the processed dog-food crap. He got tumors and all his hair started falling out. For one dogs eat raw meat not cooked meat...here is a simple recipe you can make up for your dogs. I know vegetarians won't like this but there are also many vegetarian recipes also if you just do the research. When I have some extra time I will post some on my site for those interested but I am a little swamped now. But this is a good food homemade dog food recipe you can make relatively cheaply.

Free, for Everyone: Pure Unconditional Love
We have a tragically increasing epidemic of family pets that are being dumped and left to die through no fault of these loving and loyal dogs and cats. This can be, and must be, stopped immediately. Most dump sites are high-kill shelters which can usually hold the unfortunate creatures no more than four days. Once they are there the odds are not good that they will be able to present themselves in their best manner in order to be adopted so that their lives may be spared from a horrible death. Their true personalities are usually overshadowed because they are very frightened and feel unsafe, so adoption is not easy for them because shyness due to terror is not an appealing factor to prospective adoptive humans, since they do not understand or are able to see the animals' true personalities. Please be aware that the deserted animals, which were once a loving member of a family, will be terrified until the moment of death... which does not come easy. Methods used to kill the animals are not gentle and kind. If gassing is the means, it often needs to be repeated to achieve the desired results. Sometimes they are shot. These poor creatures experience only a growing fear from the time they are deserted until they are killed. Above all, never ever turn a pet loose to roam thinking it will find food, water, and shelter. It will most probably suffer until it starves, freezes, dehydrates, or is killed.
Companion animals only want to love and be loved, no matter the circumstances in which they share their masters' lives. They are loyal, and are often simply grateful, to to share adversity of homelessness and deprivation just to remain with their masters. They are loyal to the end. They often risk their own lives to save and protect their humans.
Please consider adopting one or two cats, or dogs, or one of each. They are forever grateful because they truly understand that you have saved their lives from a very frightening place. Most animals in these kill shelters are family pets who have been trained, are docile, kid and cat friendly, and have been neutered with all of the required innoculations. All they need is a loving home. Children are better adjusted when they have the experience of at least one family animal companion. These are wonderful experiences and fond memories of childhood. Pets are good de-stressers for adults, also, and are very calming and beneficial for mental and emotional health. Senior pets are wonderful companions for senior citizens, too.
If you find a pet that you would like to adopt there are animal transport volunteers who will help you to receive your new family member after adoption. There are also pure-breed rescue groups that you can contact if there is a particular breed you are interested in. One thing that is important is to research the temperament of the breed instead of the animals' appearance to ensure a congenial blend into your family.
Please consider being a temporary foster parent to a cat or a dog until it can be adopted to ensure they will not die due to the fast kill deadlines. Please consider assisting in animal transporting pets to adoptive families. Please consider volunteering in a rescue center. Vets and trainers are also needed to help save the lives of these innocent and loving creatures who find themselves in terrifying and desperate, life-threatening circumstances. Everyone can do something to alleviate this tragedy...and everyone can benefit by having a loving companion animal.
If you have a dog or a cat please have them neutered or spayed unless they are being bred for showing. The animals are calmer, more loving, and have healthier lives.
